thehindu.com on February 08, 2013 reported that the Medical Council of India’s (MCI) Ethics Committee has decided to “strike off the name of Ram Charan Thiagarajan from the Indian Medical Register as well as from the Register of State Medical Council for a period of one year.” The doctor is a transplant surgeon at the Fortis Hospital on Bangalore’s Bannerghatta Road. The decision is in response to a complaint filed by Major Pankaj Rai (retd.), who said the hospital’s negligence and malpractice led to the death of his wife, Seema Rai (44), who was admitted there in May 2010. The decision will come into effect from the day the order is formally issued, which is expected soon.
